I know, it's been a few weeks...

Christmas in Mexico was absolutely wonderful and we had a great time. Ate lots of great food and drank many margaritas!

The beach we were staying on was beautiful but rocky. You had to wear shoes to get down into the tidal pools, and when we were there, there was a new moon so the tides were around 30 feet, so that was pretty fun to watch come in and go out.

Dave ate shrimp, and more shrimp and more shrimp...they were huge down there, and they have blue shrimp. Apparently the only place in the world that you can get blue shrimp is on the Sea of Cortez. So that was kind of fun to see.

I could go on and on about vacation, I really could.

We stayed in a converted house to guest rooms, so we had a bathroom, a kitchenette/bedroom and another bedroom. Our window didn't face the ocean, but you could wake up to the gulls and waves every morning. It was cool at night, so most of the time we woukd use the little heater they had in there for us.

Mornings brought breakfast from Roberto, the burrito vendor. My favorite were his bean and cheese, but Dave was pretty partial to the egg/potato or shredded beef/potato combinations.

Sometimes we went downtown to do stuff, some days we didn't. Shopping, just relaxing sitting in the chair on the beach or whatever was fine with us. I did a lot of reading and then generally we would head into town to buy shrimp to grill or just eat in town.

Of course, there was always happy hour on the beach too. ;)

At night we made a fire on the beach, listened to the ocean and blew up fireworks. You wouldn't freaking believe some of the fireworks down there!!! HUGE!

It was nice to just relax. I could've used a few more days of it, but Dave was ready to come home and get back at it. He's been working pretty much non-stop (and don't get me started on that crap) since we got home.

We've already started talking about Christmas in Las Vegas next year to see the rest of the family, so we'll see how it goes.

Fortunately when we got back we both had Monday off. We had to move snow as we got about 8", I needed to do laundry and clean the house again - just vacuum and clean up all the hairballs that had been yarked up over the past week. Fun stuff, I tell you.

Well, the tractor got stuck in the ditch, ripped out the internet cable in the process, and then broke. Without going into to much detail, I will say that the internet is back up (finally) with a wireless internet bridge, and the tractor is still sitting in the middle of the driveway - we've been driving around it to get out. Thank goodness when it broke it broke at the END of all the snow-moving.

Dave already went to the tractor salvage yard and got new pieces for the PTO (you'll know what that is if you're a farm kid) linkage and after a bit of welding and swearing it's back together. Now the problem is, he just can't get it started again! So in the driveway it sits...

The weather here has been beautiful since we've been back, mostly mid 30's F during the daytime. Really nice for January!!! It snowed today, but it was melting off as fast as it could fall. I mean, we still do have snow, but just not a whole lot.

For being down there for just a week, it's just funny, but I miss it. I miss the ocean and the sandy beach. I miss the seagulls, the sound of Spanish in the air, the smell of refried beans and spices hanging around all the restauraunts. I miss the smell of the clean cotton of the blankets that the vendors sell walking down the beach.

*sigh*

Can I have another week???
