This is from the local paper, really something that I wanted to share.

"Dirty and surrounded by old appliances, John Sullivan was waiting for yet another Cleanup Week dump truck when he heard the panicked meows.

"Walking through the salvage yard area of recently dumped goods, he followed the pitiful cries to a beat-up Kenmore clothes dryer.

"Looking down, Sullivan saw a tiny black Calico kitten desperately trying to pull itself back up onto the dryer's open door.

"Curious, Sullivan turned his attention away from the bulldozing work being done to organize appliances and other junk into heaps at Hazer's Auto & Truck Salvage in West F****.

"On the ground near the dryer and other kitten, he found a second kitten, this one grey with stripes.

"Thinking there must be more where those came from, Sullivan pulled at the dirty towels and bright green blanket left inside the opened appliance.

"Three more kittens.

""I've found a lot of weird things, but never kittens," Sullivan said Wednesday.

"If not for his find, the kittens would have been crushed along with their dryer or, at least, been trucked for miles.

""These (kittens) could have been in Canada tomorrow morning," Sullivan said of where the compacted materials were headed today.

"The grey and black kittens had two orange siblings and another of mixed colors.

"Loosely wrapped in their green blanket inside a metal cylinder bin for the time being, the kittens quietly rested Wednesday afternoon, seemingly unaware of the large bulldozer continuing its work nearby.

"Sullivan guesses the five are a few weeks old and were born in the dryer.

"There's no way of knowing where the dryer and kittens came from - only that the dryer came from F****, he said.

""I really don't think anybody stuffed them in there - but you never know," Sullivan said.

"Many people tend to keep Cleanup Week items in their backyards or garages until collection time rolls around, so he said it's possible the dryer's owner had no idea the kittens were inside.

"It's also not unusual for Sullivan to find towels in a discarded dryer, he said, adding he's opened a washing machine full of dog manure and another filled with beer cans. One dryer still had children's clothing in it.

"Sara Hazer, office manager of the salvage yard, hopes to find a home for the one remaining kitten, which she planned to take home Wednesday.
